On the importance of the opposite

Full or empty?

If one makes any statement about observations in the world, the opposite of it is also true. And only by looking at the two together is it possible to see reality.
Rudolf Steiner, GA 186, p. 151

This applies at all levels: If I put water or wine in a glass, do I fill it or empty it? Both of course: The liquid fills it, but also empties it. The air that was in the glass before is now outside.

In every movement the opposite always happens as well. If, for example, I create a streaming upwards by raising my arms, then the opposite also happens. It leads me down into my feet at the same time. I just have to pay attention to it.
