What we will do
What the course is about
We all have unique ways of knowing and individual ways of accessing that knowing (as Steiner says in the preface to Philosophy of Freedom). For this reason, we have designed this course to be experiential in nature so that each participant can explore their own unique way of knowing.
We will be highlighting certain foundational aspects of social life, soul life and eurythmy. Since it is meant to be experiential, we will not go deeply into the theory but use movement and avenues of research for participants to find their own questions and answers.
The theory will offer clues and ideas for reflection and eurythmy will offer a way to explore in our “body” the cosmic wisdom that flows to us and can be expressed within us.
Since we also believe that each individual has a part of the truth, we are seeking to get as many perspectives and aspects of our human experience as possible thereby hoping to bring us closer to ‘reality or truths’.
What we will do
What we will be sharing are doorways to a greater understanding of the human and subhuman/antisocial forces working in the world and in us and how they can become educators for us on a path of becoming
We will do this by sharing avenues to deepen our relationships with the qualities and beings within us and that are working with us. In this case, through the mediums of eurythmy and astrology/astrosophy of the zodiac, the gestures, the virtues, the drives/gestures of these forces/beings, the one-sided imbalances of them.
In astrology there are MANY qualities and relationships that are possible. We will be solely focused on the planes of space, modes, quincunx aspects and the qualities of the zodiacal being themselves. These will also be considered in relation to our soul life.
In Theosophy, Chpt 4 (Path of Knowledge) R. Steiner is clear:
- We need to move away from forming judgements that can readily be reduced to formulas and instead form pictures, but to do this we first must have loving interest and curiosity
- We must let the forces of the world act upon us as educators and refrain from making snap judgements

The motto we follow
We will seek to work with the soul forces of the other person, the zodiac, the relationships (quincunx, yod, and modes) and self-knowledge as a path of becoming and developing social forces of healing.
As we know from our world today, destructive forces seek to disrupt healthy social forces to flow between us. The nature of our current challenges invites us to ask deep questions and face difficult situations and relationship dynamics. A source of inspiration can be the follow indication from Steiner:
"First however everything that remains of the old will have to be reduced to nothingness. The clouds will have to gather round the human being and we will have to find our freedom – find our power , our whole strength out of this nothingness. Outer material need will change into soul need and out of this deep need of the soul will vision be born.
We must tear up by the roots every trace of fear and shrinking of what comes towards us out of the future. All our feeling about the future must be permeated with calm and confidence. We must look forward with absolute equanimity to all that may come and think only that whatever happens, happens under the cosmic guidance that is full of wisdom.
Our part is to do what is right in each moment as it comes and leave everything else to the future. That indeed is the lesson that we have to learn in our time, to live out of pure trust, without any security of existence, trust in the ever present help of the spiritual world. Truly nothing else will do if our courage not to fail us. Let us then take hold of our will and let us seek the awakening from within, every morning and every evening."
