ECC Winter Course

The 12 Constitutional Exercises of Eurythmy Therapy

Fresh and Healthy through the Winter

The Secret of the Middle

Online course from 29 November 2025 to 7 February 2026
with Theodor Hundhammer, founder of Eurythmy4you

With simultaneous translation into Thai and Chinese.

Beginners welcome!Find your centre and strengthen your life forces. This winter course will lead you through the twelve constitutional exercises of therapeutic eurythmy, which Rudolf Steiner gave to strengthen the rhythmic system and to unfold the etheric heart.

The exercises connect head, heart, and limbs, and cultivate calmness, warmth, breathing strength, resilience, and joy of life. Their movements are simple – their effectiveness arises from the inner activity with which you perform them.

  • Breathe more freely, sleep more peacefully
  • Strengthen your heart forces
  • Support warmth and healthy circulation
  • Relieve headaches – soothe the abdomen
  • Find your own centre

We practise together and in small groups, exploring the physiological and soul-related backgrounds and discovering how movement can become a source of inner strength.

Course Material and Access for Participants

How the Course is Structured

Two parts – one path: During Advent, the course first leads inward – from conscious soul movement to inner experience – a journey into the abdominal space, the region of birth. Over the Holy Nights, we take a pause for individual reflection. In the new year, with the “rising sun”, the second part leads from within towards the forces of the heart – towards encounter, warmth, and inner peace.

How We Work

In this course, self-practice and shared exploration go hand in hand. Theodor explains the exercises, guides you in their execution and inner experience, and responds to your questions and observations. Between meetings, you continue practising on your own – or together with others in small groups via the ECC Forum.

  • Weekly online meetings with Theodor
  • Self-practice supported by written materials
  • Replays available
  • Forum and peer groups for exchange and deepening

This creates a living rhythm of learning – combining practice, reflection, and inspiring exchange.

The Twelve Exercises in the Zodiac

An invitation for colleagues to explore together during the online course

12 Constitional Exercises - Chart 2025 ENWhenever we look at something complete in itself, it is natural to relate it to an archetype. One of the deepest and most familiar twelvefold archetypes is the Zodiac, in which every sign is completely different, yet all together form a unified whole.

In my work with the Twelve Constitutional Exercises, a correspondence with the Zodiac has emerged that surprised me. It does not begin with Aries, as one might expect, but enters the circle through a garden gate, so to speak. Starting from there, the agreement between the exercises and the zodiacal qualities is remarkably consistent, vivid and alive, inviting us to explore this relationship in practice.

I would like to follow this path with you during the course. It is not about a theoretical interpretation but about experience in movement: How does the quality of the movement change when we practise with this in mind? What kind of resonances appear? What had Rudolf Steiner in view when he designed this remarkable sequence of exercises?

For the group work in the main course, I will continue to suggest that colleagues and non-eurythmists work together in mixed groups. It is most inspiring to witness how people without prior eurythmy experience perceive and perform these movements – and how this, in turn, opens new insights for us into the nature and potential of the exercises.

For participants with a background in eurythmy, I would also like to offer a separate research group. For this, we created a section in the forum for in-depth discussion of the connection between the exercises and the zodiac. Here, we can explore the inner order of the exercises in relation to the Zodiac and share how these insights can be applied in professional practice. This should lead us towards a deeper experience of the movements as a path to the inner order of the human being within the cosmos – and to further cultivate the therapist within us.

For Philosophically Interested Participants

Rudolf Steiner describes the twelve constitutional exercises as

  • working from the soul,
  • working via the “detour” through the etheric body,
  • working into the innermost parts of the organs.

In this course, we will focus primarily on practical exercises and gaining our own experiences. But in doing so, we will naturally discover what these statements mean – and how you can put them into practice in a completely natural way.

If you would like to know more, you will find detailed explanations in the background chapters of the comprehensive course handout. The following image is also explained in detail there.
