About Kate

I grew up in Windsor, Ontario across the river from Detroit. As an adult I have lived in various different countries and worked as a teacher and later as a Waldorf teacher. While teaching in the international school of Monaco, I met the family of Lorin Maazel, the conductor. For over five years I worked for the Maazels as a teacher in Monaco, Germany and in America. Although I was aware of Rudolf Steiner's work and Waldorf education when I lived in Toronto, it was through the Maazels that I first began to study Waldorf education and eventually received an M Ed in Waldorf education from Antioch New England Graduate School.

After returning to Canada, I taught at a Waldorf school on Vancouver Island taking a class from grade one to eight in that community. After more time abroad I taught at the Waldorf school in Calgary, Alberta. When I left full time teaching, I mentored teachers in various schools in China and spend a year teaching in Bhutan. During the pandemic I settled in Canada with looking after my aging mother. I did teach a class of children in Myanmar online at this time and did some volunteer work with immigrant children.

Now as I am turning seventy, and still caretaking for my 97 year old mother, I look ahead to the next stage of my life.
