Report and Thank You

From 1 to 9 August 2026, Nino Vashakidze and Theodor Hundhammer, together with the participants of the Eurythmy4you certificate course and additional guests from St. Petersburg and other regions of Russia, had the opportunity to spend an intensive and fulfilling summer week together in Moscow.

Moscow 2026 Photo PGH55224 Christian CommunityThe week took place in the premises of WALA R and the Christian Community in Moscow. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to both institutions for their generous hospitality. Many of the participants and instructors were also able to stay overnight there. This created a special closeness in our shared life and work: therapeutic eurythmy was possible from early in the morning until well into the evening, and an intensive sense of community was able to develop among everyone involved.

These days were enriched by many encounters: by working together with people who have been connected with us online for some time and some of whom had already worked with us in Zugdidi, Georgia. New connections were made with eurythmists from Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as with people encountering eurythmy for the first time. We would like to thank our wonderful and dedicated team for creating such an excellent organizational and human framework on site.

In our daily work, artistic eurythmy and therapeutic eurythmy came together as a whole. We deepened fundamental elements of eurythmy, gained experience of its therapeutic effects, and explored new artistic forms together. It was especially wonderful to experience how trained eurythmists and people with little or no previous experience can work together artistically – and how something so lively and beautiful can emerge from this diversity.

Moscow 2026 Photo PGH55133 Raminta PianoThe concluding performance became a special experience. We were able to experience how, through our shared work, carried by joy and trust, sharing with the audience came to the forefront as something essential to eurythmy. We look back on these days with gratitude.

On this page, we would like to give you a small insight into the programme of the summer week and into our way of working. There are videos of the performance and the lectures (in German and Russian), as well as a collection of feedback from the participants.

And we would like to continue this work. At the end of this page, you will therefore also find an opportunity to support the continuation of our work in Russia with a donation. As a thank you, we have come up with something special.

Musical Setting of the Ballad

...

Gypsy Ballad
English translation retaining Russian syntax

Group 1
I sat and dreamed.
At the open window.
Suddenly, a black-eyed woman in rags,
a Gypsy woman, came up to me.
She came up and asked:
“Give me your hand – I will tell your fortune.
Everything that was and everything that will be,
I can tell you.

Group 2
There is a wound in your heart –
you love a young man,
you want to become his wife,
but it is not destined for you.
He loves rich girls,
plays cards, drinks wine,
he will bring you, poor girl, to ruin;
he, the villain, does not care.”

Group 3
Wax candles are burning,
the coffin is lined with red velvet,
and before the coffin, on his knees,
stands the faithless young man:
“Forgive me, I did not know that you loved so deeply.
Forgive me, I did not know that you waited so long.
Forgive me, I did not know that you would perish!
Forgive me, I did not know that you would die!”

At the end of the summer week, we took time to look back together. The participants shared what had particularly moved them during these days, what had changed for them, and what they would like to take home with them.

The following reflections present their statements in a shortened and paraphrased form.

Marina K

Caring for such a large number of guests and living together during the week were an important experience for me. I found it very special how, within this team, an effort was made to perceive and take into account the individuality of every single person.

For me, it was especially important to come to myself in a new way. The personal feedback from Nino, the work with the four elements and the alphabet, the shared discoveries in tone eurythmy, and the search for the meanings of words in the Apollonian forms meant a great deal to me.

Preparing our performance and the performance itself gave me great joy. I was especially pleased by the feedback from the WALA staff, who were amazed at what could be created in such a short time.

Jevgeni

An important discovery for me was that movement arises from an inner soul-spiritual impulse: First I feel or think something, and from this the movement is born. I would like to continue observing this and deepen it through regular practice with others. I would also like to continue independently with the Eurythmy Therapy that Nino recommended to me.

Valentina F

The organization of the week was exceptionally good – far beyond anything I had imagined beforehand. The entire work was positive and joyful, right through to the rehearsals for the performances.

In a group, I can experience things that are hardly possible alone. The spatial forms, the work with the staffs, and practicing together gained a special strength through this. In the work with the musical intervals, I was especially impressed by how the tones and intervals can be experienced deep into the body. I would like to preserve these experiences and continue working with others in St. Petersburg.

Liudmilla B

During the week, I was able to experience the exercises much more intensively than usual. What was special was the way Theodor worked with time within the exercises. Some exercises are so familiar to me from earlier experience that they can easily be done quickly. During this week, there was more time within an exercise to perceive my own body and truly live through a movement. The work with the musical intervals and the staff exercises gained a new depth through this.

The independent work in the groups and the shared performance brought joy. Being able to live and work in one place throughout the entire week helped us very much to remain fully within the shared work.

Viktoria

I came in order to get to know a different approach to eurythmy. For my work with children, I discovered many new subtleties, for example in the staff exercises and in connecting musical intervals with soul gestures.

It was especially valuable for me to experience how strongly the entire artistic work also had a therapeutic quality. I would like to take this experience into my work at school and continue working with the faculty as well.

Irina

Through the online courses, I had already learned a great deal. I was able to watch the videos again and again at my own pace, perceive the movement flows surprisingly well, and follow them step by step.

During the week, it was interesting to experience what new nuances became visible when Theodor showed exercises that were already familiar to me. My knowledge became even more alive and deepened through this. At the same time, I developed the wish for a further therapeutic course. If such an opportunity arises, I would be very happy to participate.

After this week, I have gained more confidence in my own abilities: I already have something that I can pass on. I am allowed to begin.

Liudmilla G

What impressed me especially was the transformation that was possible within a single week. When we presented our performance at the end, it was almost like a miracle to see what had been created together in such a short time and what we were able to show. During the week, I myself gained a new sense of awareness in my own movements.

From Theodor’s lecture on computerization, artificial intelligence, and eurythmy, I took away that in our time, on the one hand, attempts are being made to increasingly mechanize or “robotize” the human being, while on the other hand robots are being made more and more human-like. I have seen videos in which robots dance.

So I ask myself what task eurythmy can have in this situation. Could it be our task to contribute through eurythmy to a path of humanization?

Elena T

The difference between online eurythmy and this week feels to me as if one were to watch a wonderful film about an intelligent Labrador for three months – and then spend two weeks actually playing with this dog and scratching it behind the ears.

The experiences of this week have changed the way I see my personal life. I now think differently about what I had been thinking before the summer week. I would like to understand how such a change could have come about. Is it a change in the quality of thinking that is connected with the eurythmy work continued over several days?

Elena M

This week was the best camp I have ever experienced. A year ago in Zugdidi, it had been my first time standing on a stage, and the fear of performing was strong. This time I experienced the excitement completely differently. It was a joyful excitement and a new awareness of why we perform at all: We want to bring beauty into the world. I experience the fact that this changed so much within one year as a small miracle.

I was amazed by the transformation that was possible within this week. For the first time, I truly experienced what it can mean to come to myself. I perceived myself and at the same time the space around me in a new way. I would like to make these possibilities of eurythmy accessible to other people as well and continue working with them in my school environment and with the faculty.

I was also deeply moved by the question of the human being in a time of robotics and artificial intelligence. A robot moves on the basis of a program. In a human being, movement can arise from an inner impulse of one’s own. To bring a spiritual and human quality into the world through eurythmy – I now see this as an important task of eurythmy.

Maxim

For me, the impressive encounters with the other people during this week were especially important. After this week, eurythmy feels considerably easier for me, and I would like to continue doing eurythmy.

Mascha

During the summer week, I experienced a special atmosphere of reverence.

The statement that eurythmy is visible speech became a real experience for me during this week. I experienced more clearly that the movements go beyond the purely physical and have an etheric and spiritual dimension. I would like to preserve this experience through regular practice.

It also became especially clear to me how important community is for this work. Some experiences only arise because we practice together, perceive one another, and speak about our inner experiences.

The lecture on digitalization and artificial intelligence also became very concrete for me. I see in my husband how strongly working with AI can captivate a person and how easily the perception of one’s own physical condition can recede into the background. This raised the question for me of how eurythmy can help us preserve our perception of ourselves.

Natalia R

The atmosphere of the week was exceptionally warm. The way the shared space was created and the organization were special and differed in a very positive way from other multi-day seminars I have experienced at this place.

I already knew the 12 constitutional exercises of Eurythmy Therapy from my training as a physician working with Eurythmy Therapy. After Theodor’s explanations of their background and interconnections, I can say: Now I have also understood them.

Marina

Until now, I knew eurythmy mainly from online teaching and from an ABSR course with Theodor. At that time, Theodor was more like a “picture on the screen,” so that I almost wondered: Is he actually really alive?

During these days, I then experienced eurythmy as a coherent developmental path, from the foundations through tone eurythmy and Eurythmy Therapy to the result in the performance. It was almost like the step from a two-dimensional image to a 3D experience. It was also especially important for me to experience that eurythmy can help me physically.

I would like to have regular meetings and practice together, if possible also in addition to the online courses being offered, and I would like to find people in my surroundings with whom I can continue working so that what we experienced during the week can remain alive.

Inna

I was especially inspired by the Apollonian forms and the possibility of shaping poems through movement. I write poems myself, and during the week many new ideas arose about how I could connect language and eurythmy.

The health-related exercises and the shared atmosphere also touched me deeply. I experienced the whole community like a living etheric space that extended far beyond the actual teaching sessions. This could also be perceived in the conversations outside the courses. It was as if everyone together were a living ether.

I am concerned with how I can speak publicly about eurythmy in my work and communicate to these people what eurythmy is. I want to show them that it is about more than purely body therapy. I am searching for a language for the spiritual dimension of this work.

Elena (translator)

For me, the exchange about our inner experiences during the exercises was especially important. Sometimes you experience something very clearly but cannot yet find words for it yourself. Then another person says something, and suddenly you recognize your own experience in it. This gives confidence and strengthens what you have perceived inwardly.

Theodor’s way of working with time and building up the individual steps of the teaching was also important to me. I was especially interested in the connection between soul gestures and musical intervals.

Thanks to Elena

Several participants explicitly mentioned how essential Elena’s translation work was for the shared week. One participant said that the translation had been like wings that helped them follow along.

They experienced that, alongside the words, Elena was also able to convey something of the mood and inner quality of what Theodor and Nino were communicating. Her accuracy, her attention to the thoughts of each individual person, and her own participation in the eurythmy work created a special connection between the languages and the people.

We Need Your Support Again for 2027

The 2026 Summer Week was made possible thanks to many donations and a substantial contribution from Eurythmy4you itself. This enabled us to learn and practise together and to support the further development of eurythmy locally.

Moscow 2026 Photo PGH55116 Evening Primrose

To make the 2027 Summer Week possible, we would like to build a shared fund once again:

  • to cover travel and flight costs,

  • to provide appropriate remuneration for the teachers and organisers,

  • to support the development of the work locally,

  • to pass on what is learned and practised during the Summer Week.

Music lives through people who love it, learn it, and make it sound together – in concert halls as well as in public squares, at celebrations, and in living rooms.

Eurythmy, too, needs people who are enthusiastic about it, deepen their knowledge, and bring what they have learned into their communities. We dedicate our work to this impulse, so that a living culture of eurythmy can gradually emerge and grow.

Through the Summer Week and the work that continues to develop locally as a result, we would like to support this growth.

Help us make the 2027 Summer Week possible.
