Therapeutic Eurythmy

  • Aries is the impulse for incarnation, originating from the head, living in its red perimeter.
  • Connecting of one's spiritual impulse with matter. Slow and gentle sinking in.
  • W is rarely used in therapeutic eurythmy because R. Steiner provided no indications for it.

Execution
demonstrated and practised in live sessions

Therapeutic Aspects
developed together in the course and supplemented here
Rocking Step
  • The rocking step is perhaps the most typical W in itself
  • Flowing into one another.
  • Also perform the rocking step in reverse when stepping back.

The head of the will-driven person is the hips. This is addressed in the rocking step. From there, the transition into the will takes place.

  • Moving forward: bringing into flow.
  • Moving backwards: moving towards oneself, coming to oneself.
German W
  • Surfing W, more at heart level.
  • The flow that carries forward.
  • With each W do a rocking step.
 Middle
English W,  "Double-U"
  • Take a step with each W of the arms.
  • Be completely soft within it.
  • The streaming through the hips carries the step along.
Below
W above the head
  • From "Sea to Land"
  • Wave moving over the head forward
  • Through the expanse back to the new wave
  • Perform the rocking step also with several steps backwards

The W gesture always moves forward: exhalation, expansion

With: Prologue in Heaven, Archangel Michael, Goethe, Faust

W in rising and falling currents
  • Upward and downward movement of W combined with bending and stretching the legs and taking steps.
  • In parallel flow (therapeutically incarnating).
  • In counterflow (etheric exercise, self-exercise).

If it is meant to have an incarnating effect, the movement needs to be unified, i.e. in parallel flow.

The flexible envelope

  • Perform along a perceived envelope (B) with the hands.
  • Generate the flexibility of the hands with the feet and experience flexibility through the hands.

In the Hebrew alphabet, the letter B (Beijt) is pronounced as W in the middle of a word.

In the Cyrillic alphabet, W is still written as B today.

Indications

Warmth

Many people do not allow warmth to flow through and enter them.

  • Getting someone into flow, leading them into the future. Becoming more flexible.
  • Bringing someone into themselves.
  • Becoming soft and fluid. Stimulating the etheric so it flows to the periphery.
  • If one has withdrawn too much from the body—to the extent that fingers atrophy, toes become inflamed, or even require amputation.

Texts

Threefold Walking

There lives in us an image
of all that we could be.

Until we have become it
our heart is never free.

Angelus silesius

Earth I am feeling you
I’m gently caressing you
Tolerate my human foot
Feel my loving touch.

You carry my every step
You shoulder my burden too
You give me homeland here
Earth I am thanking you.

Hedwig Diestel, Transation Adele Waldman
German: Erde ich spüre dich

Light - Weight

Light streams upwards
Weight bears downwards
And I am the bridge between heaven and earth

German W

Oh sun , so bright
Thou gives light
And warming love
From heaven above
That life on Earth
May come to birth

Double U

The mirror

Where winds the water curle
where mighty currents whirle
as water falls from stony shelf
you see the mirror self.

Where water is at peace
unmoved by gail and breeze
The surface self no more defects
it things around reflects.

When eyes in eager gleam
your blood does strongly stream
You only show what is your kind
and judging are you blind.

When you have peace in soul
when you are calm and whole
The world beholds itself in you
and judging are you true.

Lars Hallquist ~Dec. 1991

W above the head

Prologue in Heaven, Archangel Michael:

And storms rage in wild contest,
From sea to land, from land to sea,
Forming a furious, whirling chain,
That works its power ceaselessly.
Lightning flashes, shooting bright,
Nature’s forces drive ahead,
Yet all obey, through endless might,
The silent word their Master said.

Goethe, Faust
