Tone eurythmy and the soul gestures of eurythmy Draft
The essence of musical eurythmy ...
Language is a way out into the world, into which souls awakening to the world, one facing the senses, encountering the world. The music is an inner awakening and action in this process: a walk out. And thus meet one's own spirit, his own creative activity.
Language is always a human relationship to the world. Music is a relationship between man and himself as a spiritual person. ... So when I say: I go into my spirituality in the O or the U, then I speak musically. .... And when we reflect on the A and on the E,where we can clearly perceive the sound experience, we are stuck with our astral body in the physical body inside ... then we have a different musical experience.
R. Steiner, Toneurythmy Course GA 278
… and here continuation in the soul gestures of eurythmy
In the gestures of souls, the musical feeling of going into one's own creative process is turned back to oneself and internalized. The body is "be-toned".
After all, we can say something and then, by emphasizing what we are saying, what our state of mind is with what is said. It is not true that emphasis is very important, and in Scripture one denotes what is in the emphasis, through such things as question marks, exclamation marks and the like.
R. Steiner, Eurythmy as visible speech, GA 279
The relationship of the musical advance to the soul gesture is comparable to that of sound to bell. Only the sound comes first.
